Claire Austin is an Australian lyrical coloratura soprano, currently a freelance artist based in Germany and Austria. She was recently a member of the ensemble at Theater Koblenz where she appeared in Meisterklasse by Terrance McNally, Die Liebe zur drei Orangen, Der Freischütz, La clemenza di Tito, and Sunset Boulevard. Previously, she was a soloist at Theater Lübeck after partaking in their International Opera Studio. Whilst in Lübeck, Claire debuted as Zerlina (Don Giovanni), 1st Elf (Rusalka), Pilpatoe (Montezuma), Sophie (Werther), Rosalia (West Side Story), Sandmann and Taumann (Hansel and Gretel), Papagena (Zauberflöte) and Dragon Maja (Drachenreiter - world premiere).
She performs internationally, including guest appearances at the Hamburg Kammeroper, Theater Koblenz, Wiener Festwochen as well as venues in Australia, Europe, and China. Other role highlights include Ännchen (Freischütz), Servilia (La Clemenza di Tito - Recit. by Manfred Trojahn), Madame Mao (Nixon in China), Rosina (Barbiere), Adele (Fledermaus), Soeur Constance (Carmélites), Christine (Phantom of the Opera), Poppea (L'incoronazione) and Gullia Fabri (Limonen aus Sizilien). Claire has worked with esteemed conductors and directors, such as Stefan Vladar, Ulrich Windfuhr, Theodoro Currentzis, Karoline Gruber, Florentina Holzinger, Manfred Trojahn, Peter Sellars and Markus Dietze.
Claire has a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Queensland Conservatorium and a Master of Opera from the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg.
